Introduction

This Blog will content posts that relate to my end of year HND film. The post will content links and photos of films or stories that have inspirited me and will show the gradual build up to the end piece.

The theme of this year's end of year film is Dislocation. At first this theme really threw me as I hoped to have got a bit more freedom to pick things I want but after thinking over it I slowly started to think of war or the troubles as the solider were dislocated from their normal lives and families and all the emotions they would have went through would have been strange to them. But this was only a rough quickly thought out idea so hopefully with a bit more research and better understanding of it I'll be able to develop or come up with different ideas.

To start off to help us get a feel of how dislocation can be created on screen we watched Hotel Chevalier by Wes Anderson in 2007. Starring Jason Schwartzman and Natalie Portman as former lovers who reunite in a Paris hotel room, the 13-minute film acts as a prologue to Anderson's 2007 feature The Darjeeling Limited.

Through this you can see the man is dislocation from his home and people who care about him as he seems shock that the woman found him and the hotel room is decorated with his things as if this was a sub- home. At first the film was confusing I didn't really understand the contact with the two characters if their was ex's or former lovers but whenever you see the two nearly sleeping with each other you can see dislocation occurring between them, not so much from the woman but from the man as he seemed to not care much about how the woman would feel after they slept together even though they had some form of history. So there is a lot to be said for this film but I think a deeper study and background is needed for me to fully understand it.

This last thing I will mention in this post is the role I wish to carry out through out not only this but future productions. I have a great passion for directing I enjoy creating scene in my head and watching them come to life and being able to work with the actors. I believe I have a good eye for this role as I try to think outside the book and think of every way before settling.
